“Florida: premiere destination for very rich men on skates (teeth optional).”
-The reality for anyone still thinking ice sports don’t fly here
Greetings insurance pros!
In this edition: catch me if you can, when it really blows, weekend Webinar warriors, CE requirements, featured Webinar this week, 4-hour Annuity Training course, 4-hour Law & Ethics Update Webinars, weekly highlights, full June schedule, Florida on ice (this week’s F5). Let’s do it.
Catch me if you can. It’s my privilege to be speaking this week at the Florida Association of Insurance Agents annual convention. If you’re attending, please drop by my classroom and say hello (or “you look older in person” as I’m frequently told at live gigs.)
When it really blows. You’re an insurance pro in Florida which means you’re swimming in resources to share with insureds regarding hurricane season. In our humble opinion the Florida Department of Financial Services created what may be the most essential resource regarding disaster preparedness for insurance pros and consumers. Click here to check out the Department’s resources webpage and then share it with others.
Weekend Webinar warriors. We’ve added a boatload of Saturday Webinars including 4-hour Law & Ethics Updates as well as 1- and 3-hour elective options. Two Saturdays monthly! Click here for more about the Saturday explosion.
“What the %^&* are my CE requirements?!” Electives…Law & Ethics Updates…what does it all mean and how does it apply to you? Click here for our CE Compliance page and get your answers.

That sound you heard? My head exploding. Big data is watching your every move. Virtual currencies are powering transactions globally. Cars are driving themselves, stuff orbiting the earth can actually hurt you, genetically modified animals and marijuana are everywhere. Instructor Steve “He Ain’t” Lyon returns to discuss these and many other exposures that just recently would’ve seemed too futuristic to even exist (much less create an insurance concern) but here we are! Click here to learn more.

Come for the sauce. Veteran Florida insurance man David “Special Sauce” Thompson discusses what happened in the 2024 general legislative session as well as several other current trends in (and issues with) the Florida insurance market.

THE “F5” (FASCINATING FACTOID FOR FANATICAL FLORIDIANS) –
Remember when misinformed haters thought ice hockey wouldn’t thrive in Florida?!
We’re told that, from its residence in Tampa, Lord Stanley’s Cup is eyeing a condo across the state. For the second consecutive year, the Florida Panthers are playing for hockey’s biggest prize.
The NHL’s southernmost team began play in the 1993-94 season, first playing for the Cup in just its third season of existence. A founder whose name is familiar to Florida sports fans – business magnate Wayne Huizenga - was awarded the franchise in 1992. Already the owner of MLB’s Marlins and the NFL’s Dolphins, Huizenga’s Panthers shared an inaugural season with the Walt Disney Company’s Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. The new franchise would be the first professional ice hockey team in south Florida since the folding of the Tropical Hockey League in 1939.
