THE “F5” (FASCINATING FACTOID FOR FANATICAL FLORIDIANS) –

It’s June 29th, 1931, at your home in Monticello (just east of Tallahassee) and you’re waking up from a midday nap to an uncomfortable feeling.

It seems you’re stuck to the bed.

“Oh good Lord. I didn’t know I had it in me” you say as what appears to be a gallon of sweat has leaked from your skin. You rise from your now waterbed, take a step outdoors and discover the culprit.

The temperature outside is 109 degrees, the hottest ever recorded in FL. “Dang! That air smarts! Think I’ll go back to sleep.” You return to your bed, suddenly recall its present condition, and promptly sprawl out on the floor.
