THE “F5” (FASCINATING FACTOID FOR FANATICAL FLORIDIANS) –

If “belly-flop into history” is on your bucket-list then you’re in the right place.

It may surprise you to learn that the extensive list of locations on the National Register of Historic Places contains only one swimming pool. It shouldn’t surprise you at all that said pool is located in Florida (because why wouldn’t it be?!)

The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables is a historic public swimming pool originally opened in 1924. The pool occupies a shallow quarry displacing some 820,000 US gallons of fresh water daily from artesian wells, making it the largest freshwater pool in the United States.
