“See! I told you it would never work down there.”
-Very, very wrong hockey league reps in the 1960s after FL’s abysmal debut (see the factoid below for more!)
It goes without saying that the news in Florida recently has been dominated by horrific and concerning happenings. As corny as it sounds, finding ANY reason to smile is more important these days than ever. On that note, a hearty congrats to the athletes of Tampa Bay who have once again done their part to plaster smiles across our beleaguered faces. Lord Stanley’s Cup is staying in Florida where it belongs – Go Bolts!
In last week’s newsletter I discussed an upcoming change to the CE rule. If you missed that edition and are eager to know just what the h-e-double-hockey-sticks is going on, click the “Blog” tab at the top of our homepage for an archive of past editions.
We have some outstanding CE Webinars on tap this week. I could go on but your attention span is dropping faster than the confidence of pro athletes on teams not from Tampa Bay so I’ll get to it. Here are this week’s highlights:
- John Mellencamp. Willie Nelson. Sam Bennett. Three legendary men dedicated to helping small farmers. While he may not be headlining (this year) at Farm Aid, you can join instructor Sam Bennett Tuesday morning for a performance of his awesome Webinar on small/hobby farm insurance.
- Your construction insureds probably like you and instructor Cathy Trischan intends to keep it that way. She’s back Tuesday afternoon to share a ton of tips on helping your construction insureds understand and close potential coverage gaps that could cause uncovered losses and make them not like you anymore.
- Aging is tough (but easier if your nest-egg includes an enormous pile of dough.) Join FISCE’s retiree wealth expert Chris “Always on Spring Break” Amrhein Thursday afternoon for his enormously popular and useful Webinar about financial products that help folks the most when those golden years come-a-calling.
- Gimme’ five! If you’re an All-Lines Claims Adjuster licensee and in need of your 5-hour law and ethics requirement, join yours truly Friday morning and we’ll knock it out together.
For more info about what we’re up to, see the list below and/or review the full Webinar Schedule on the website.
Finally, if you’re an unapologetic lover of our fine state be sure to skate (HINT HINT) to the bottom of this newsletter for a little something special.
That’s all for now. Until the next round…cheers!

FASCINATING FACTOID FOR FANATICAL FLORIDIANS –
Everyone knows that Florida is now the permanent home of Lord Stanley’s Cup and center of the hockey universe. While it’s hard to imagine, this wasn’t always the case.
In fact, the state would probably prefer that the history of its inaugural skate into professional hockey be erased by a Zamboni. The Jacksonville Rockets – a minor professional team – joined the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) in 1964. In its first season, the team won only 13 of its 72 games. Just when fans at the Jacksonville Coliseum thought their hometown team couldn’t get worse, it managed to win only 12 contests in its second season. To learn more (and see a very cool image of the team’s official game program) check out this webpage on hockeydb.com.
