“A space dude’s trash smashed my stash.”

-A claim your insured may have someday (and also a fun sentence to type)

Greetings!

First things first: like many of you, we at the FISCE spent Sunday observing with great concern the landfall of horrible Hurricane Ida. We’ll make an announcement soon regarding our efforts to assist the victims and how you can join us.

Now here’s the rest:

You work too d#mn hard. You deserve a long weekend. I hope this newsletter finds you well and in preparation for a relaxing Labor Day weekend. We have some outstanding Webinars on tap this week – details below.

Two September schedule announcements: Our office will be closed for the holiday on Monday, 9/6 but have no fear, FISCEers: we’re back on the attack Tuesday, 9/7 to kick off another month of mind-blowing CE Webinars. Also, if you’re in need of Law & Ethics CE credit before the end of September, note that all of FISCE’s 5-Hour Law & Ethics Update Webinars in September are scheduled in the earlier weeks of the month. Moral of the story – if you need those credits, don’t delay. Register today!

As for this week: commercial property problems, insureds who zip-it, and…weed? I could go on but your attention span is dropping faster than a fireball of galactic garbage reentering the atmosphere so I’ll get to it. Here are this week’s highlights:

  • A “Big Three” beatdown. Join Cathy “On a Mission” Trischan for an hour Wednesday afternoon as she thrashes three notable problems found in most commercial property policies, exposes them for the wretches they are, and teaches you how to solve them.
  • Your insured ain’t talkin’. Instructor Scott “Guy-o-from-Ohio” Treen is in the hotseat Thursday morning with tips on helping agents identify common personal lines exposures often not disclosed by insureds.
  • “A space man’s trash smashed my stash.” Steve “He Ain’t” Lyon returns Thursday afternoon with his wildly popular Webinar on virtual currencies, weed, autonomous cars, space junk and many other emerging risks that are already causing claims.

For more info about what we’re up to, see the list below and/or review the full Webinar Schedule on the website.

Finally, if you’re an unapologetic lover of our fine state be sure to bodysurf to the bottom of this newsletter for a little something special.

That’s all for now. Until the next round…cheers!

FASCINATING FACTOID FOR FANATICAL FLORIDIANS –

With Labor Day approaching, droves of Floridians are finalizing plans to trek to their favorite beach. If you’re headed to one of the Destin-area beaches in the Panhandle, be especially respectful of those bags of ice you dump across your libations…because that stuff made the sand (sort of.)

Sandy stretches around Destin frequent those “Most Beautiful Beaches” lists and for good reason - it’s hard to find whiter, squeakier, sugar-like sand anywhere. The sand on these beaches descends from quartz crystals cut from mountaintops during the last Ice Age. The crystals meandered to the Gulf’s shores via the Apalachicola River, and after a millennia of tidal pounding, were ground into the powdery stuff that makes our castles, houses our curious crab friends, and buries our passed-out buddy (WAKE UP, MIKE!)
