CE Webinars & Grandpas Who Kicked A#s

Veterans Day Florida Insurance CE

“I saw true evil and thought ‘I’m gonna’ go kick its a#s.”

Happy Veterans Day!

An awesome slate of Webinars this week. Details below.

But first, in the spirit of this week’s celebration, permit me a bit of nostalgia and inspiration…

Two of my personal heroes: Grandpa Bill (Air Force) and Grandpa Nick (Navy), both served in WWII. After returning home (to NY and Illinois, respectively), business opportunities (combined with teeth-chattering winters) inspired both to relocate their young families to the Sunshine State.

In our industry today, market conditions continue to present significant challenges. I’ve experienced it both professionally and personally and it stinks. But if my G’s were here, having experienced what they did, I think they’d reassure me that 1) things will be okay, and 2) this is Florida and opportunity is everywhere. They’d be spot-on: record-smashing investment capital is pouring in. New business starts are at an all-time high. Huge companies are relocating their HQs here. More businesses, more people, more potential customers needing best-in-class insurance pros (and that’s where FISCE comes in.)

This week, thank a veteran and take inspiration from his/her experience. For anyone reading this who served, thank you. Your efforts are the reason this humble pitchman is free to write corny newsletters.

In our parade this week: commercial property issues, improving agency culture, and P&C pros get ethical. I could go on but your attention span is about to go AWOL so I’ll get to it. Here are this week’s highlights:

  • My stuff is broke and now so am I. Join Robin Federici Thursday morning and become the commercial property expert your insureds need.
  • Father knows best. Terry “Everyone’s Insurance Dad” Tadlock thinks good decision-making stems from your agency’s culture. Join him Thursday afternoon and learn why he’s right and what you can do about it.
  • Gimme’ five! P&C licensee friends: if you’re in need of your law and ethics credit, join yours truly Friday morning and we’ll knock it out together.

For more info about what we’re up to, see the list below and/or review the full Webinar Schedule on the website.

Finally, if you’re an unapologetic lover of our fine state be sure to march to the bottom of this newsletter for a little something special.

That’s all for now. Until the next round…cheers!

Imagine you’re on Jacksonville Beach. You can feel the breeze, smell the salty air, and see crowds of beachgoers enjoying the day. Now imagine seeing a German submarine surface a few miles offshore and open fire on what’s left of the freighter it just torpedoed.

If you were there in the spring of 1942, this “Holy $*%^!” scene described your day. What you witnessed is, according to Visit Florida, probably the most famous battle in a U-Boat war few know was waged so close to Florida’s shores. In the early months of the war, such incidents so close to FL shores weren’t infrequent. German subs successfully sank hundreds of ships in the Gulf and Atlantic, most of which were carrying supplies to European allies. Some of the sinkings have become popular destinations for divers.
