Festival of Webinars, Sorry North Pole: FL Has Christmas

Christmas Insurance Elf FISCE

“There’s more money in insurance and FISCE’s training is ‘magical’ so of course I sought them out.”

-Winnie “Elfey” Winkie, former shelf-sitter/toymaker turned insurance agent

I’m hopeful this newsletter finds you well and recovering from what you did to your body last week with food.

Our last remaining November CE options are Tuesday. We then shift our attention to December and FISCE’s Festival of Webinars. Attention all ye faithful: come carol with us and start your new year sharp and compliant!

On our 🎄 tree this week: An insurance quiz show, employment practices issues, auto dealers/garages, awful CGL endorsements, flood insurance, and adjusters get ethical. I could go on but your attention span is burning out faster than the bulbs on your light-up holiday sweater so I’ll get to it. Here are this week’s highlights:

  • This. Is. (Insurance) Jeopardy! The world’s most exciting CE opportunity is back on the air this week! Join instructor/host Steve “He Ain’t” Lyon Tuesday morning, gauge where your personal/commercial lines knowledge stacks up and see how much fake money you can lose!
  • Yes, Santa…even you. Any business with workers should have Employment Practices Liability (EPL) insurance. Tuesday afternoon, Cathy “On a Mission” Trischan will take you through the latest exposures and best tips to properly cover your insureds.
  • Apparently the giant bow damaged the motor. Insuring businesses that service and sell autos is tricky. Join FISCE’s commercial auto guru Carissa Bonner Wednesday morning and she’ll help you sort it out.
  • Lumps of coal. Some general liability endorsements are truly awful. Cathy is back for an hour Wednesday afternoon to help you sniff out the stinkers.
  • Dreaming of a White Christmas…until it melts. Regardless of its source, flood damage is expensive and often improperly insured. Join FISCE flood correspondent Robin Federici Thursday morning for all the latest from FEMA and the NFIP.
  • Gimme’ five! Claims Adjuster licensee friends: if you’re in need of a Law and Ethics update, join yours truly Friday morning and we’ll knock it out together.

For more info about what we’re up to, see the list below and/or review the full Webinar Schedule on the website.

Finally, if you’re an unapologetic lover of our fine state be sure to dash away to the bottom of this newsletter for a little something special.

That’s all for now. Until the next round…cheers!

With a name like Christmas, it makes perfect sense that the central Florida town is home to the world’s largest…gator?

It’s true that many folks make the trek to the town’s post office to have their holiday cards postmarked. It’s also true that the name of the town is associated with the holiday. However, the origin of its festive name will disappoint visitors who assume they’ll roll into a year-round winter wonderland. The town is built around Fort Christmas, named for the date on which the Army began its construction - December 25th, 1837. The fort is a historical park and is open for tours. Also located in the town is Jungle Adventures, a tourist attraction home to many native species and boasts a 200-foot long building named Swampy purported to be the world’s largest gator.
