The hottest temperature ever recorded in Florida wasn’t in Miami, near the glades, or in the Keys. It was in Monticello, a small town about 30 miles east of Tallahassee. The mercury reached 109 degrees (Yowzer!) there on June 29, 1931 - the highest officially recorded air temperature in state history.
While everyone knows it gets hot here in the Sunshine State our record high is lower than the all-time high in most other states. Weird, right?
