THE “F5” (FASCINATING FACTOID FOR FANATICAL FLORIDIANS) –

With the NHL season beginning this week it’s time to recognize its historic implications for the back-to-back Stanley Cup champs in Sunrise.

The Florida Panthers are shooting to win three consecutive Cups for the first time since the New York Islanders won their third consecutive title in 1982 (they would make it four in a row in ’83). Should (or shall I say when) they pull it off the Cats will be only the fourth team in history to three-peat, joining the Islanders, the Toronto Maple Leafs (who did it twice) and the Montreal Canadiens (who also did it twice).
