REMINDERS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
- The Webinar your construction insureds need you to take is back. The FISCE is proud to welcome back to the hotseat veteran construction site risk expert Michael Faith on Tuesday, 10/7 from 11a – 12p for Imminent Danger: Spotting Site Risks & Saving Construction Insureds. If you insure construction risks you simply cannot miss this Webinar. Check out the schedule and register below.
- Transfer at NO COST. Regardless of the reason, if you register for a Webinar and can’t attend you do not lose your money. At the FISCE transfers are free and can be initiated before or after your missed Webinar.
- Compliance deadline in NOV or DEC? Get it done in OCT (trust us…it’s FAR better this way.) NOV and DEC are wretched months in which to worry about CE compliance. Fortunately with the FISCE there are many opportunities to get compliant in OCT so you can enjoy a CE-stress-free holiday!
THIS WEEK’S WEBINAR HIGHLIGHTS
Featured Webinar: Ready or Not Here It Comes: Planning for Retirement, THURS, 10/2, 1 – 4p Eastern
This is a thing that is actually happening. Most folks (including insurance people!) have done little to address the elephant that’s always in the room: retirement planning. Join instructor Charlie “Retirement Repairman” Matejowski and learn many of the issues retirees will face along with solutions to minimize the risks.
This Week’s Schedule/Highlights (all times Eastern. Keep scrolling to see the full month schedule.)
- TUES, 9/30, 9a – 12p – Liar!: An Agent's Role in Identifying & Handling Fraud. They’re out there. And with a bit of misfortune, some may find their way into your book of business. You already know that insureds and prospects who engage in fraud are bad news but some are harder to spot then others. Join instructor Kym “Columbo” Martell and learn techniques to identify and deal with insurance fraud. With an abundance of examples and case studies insurance pros will gain expertise in sniffing out the liars.
- TUES, 9/30, 2 – 3p - An Hour with Sam: Physical Damage Coverage Concerns in the Personal Auto Policy. The Insurance Services Office (ISO) Personal Auto Policy (PAP) is the most frequently written coverage form in our industry. Regardless, this form has many ‘mysteries’ – for both the insurance professional and the policyholder. In this presentation instructor Sam “Dad Jokes Ain’t Bad Jokes” Bennett will address a few physical damage coverage (or as ISO calls it: Part D – Coverage For Damage To Your Auto) concerns in the PAP and will provide information on endorsements that should be considered for nearly every Personal Auto risk.
- THURS, 10/2, 1 – 4p - Ready or Not Here It Comes: Planning for Retirement. Our featured Webinar this week! See description above.
Finally, if you’re an unapologetic lover of all-things Florida keep scrolling to experience this week’s “F5”: a tasty knowledge nugget about everyone’s favorite state.
Until the next round…cheers!

THE “F5” (FASCINATING FACTOID FOR FANATICAL FLORIDIANS) –
As the NBA regular season kicks off soon let us pause for a moment to remember that of the 4,296 entries submitted to the Orlando Sentinel in 1986, only 11 suggested “Magic” should be the name of Orlando’s first-ever major-league professional sports franchise. Leading entries included “Heat” (side note: Miami was awarded its franchise at the same time as Orlando as well as those in Charlotte and Minnesota), “Tropics”, and “Juice.”
Be honest…you wish “Juice” had won, don’t you?
“Magic” was selected when Pat Williams, head of the investment group for the franchise, brought his seven-year-old daughter to visit the city. Orlando businessman Jim Hewitt, a prominent investor in the franchise, also was a fan of the name, saying "You look at all the aspects of Central Florida, and you find it really is an exciting place, a magical place."
In the 1989-1990 season, the Magic’s first, the team won 18 games which would’ve been impressive except for the fact they played 82 of them. While the Magic have enjoyed many winning seasons since, including two trips to the NBA Finals, a first championship remains elusive.
