THE “F5” (FASCINATING FACTOID FOR FANATICAL FLORIDIANS) –
In celebration of October the F5 section will feature stories about the Sunshine State’s most haunted places/things. Enjoy!
Robert the Doll, Fort East Martello Museum, Key West
Stories of the misfortune bestowed on those who disrespect Robert implore me to choose my words carefully.
Robert has called the museum home since 1994 and is considered by some as the world’s most terrifying doll. In addition to the frights you’d expect from a haunted doll (e.g. changing facial expressions, giggling, etc.) some believe he is responsible for causing car accidents, broken bones, job loss, divorce and other miseries upon those who are disrespectful towards him, his caretakers, or other children. He’s received thousands of letters, gifts, candy, and bags of weed (yep – it’s true) from people hoping to make amends after experiencing personal tragedies which they believe he orchestrated upon them.
Have you ever visited the museum and seen the legend for yourself? If so, were you respectful? Or did little “Bobby Bad-A#s” fire some sick juju your way?
